When it comes to writing articles for your website or elsewhere on the internet the sky is the limit. You can write about anything you please and as long as it is relevant and interesting then your visitors should find it useful. Articles are the lifeblood of the internet as people search online for information and the demand for quality information is growing all the time.
If people see your website as a place to go to get quality information then they will keep coming back so it is important to keep your site fresh with regular content in the form of new articles.
First of all never be tempted to just copy someone else's work and pass it off as your own as this is both morally wrong and illegal. Write your own original content (or pay a freelance to do so on your behalf) and you will build a following of loyal readers over time.
Articles must be well-written and both easy to read and understand so don't throw in a smattering of long and over-complicated words and phrases in an attempt to impress your audience. Doing this won't impress anyone and will just cause people to leave your site, perhaps never to return.
Write in proper sentences and pay attention to basic punctuation and grammar. Your readers will forgive you the odd typographical error but carelessly misspelled words will soon cause annoyance.
Think about keywords when writing your article and be sure to include relevant keywords in the text – don't overdo it though as you want the article to read naturally. Cramming in too many keywords and key phrases into an article makes it difficult to read and when people find something difficult to read they usually stop reading. Strike the correct balance with keywords and you will have your articles found by the search engines and read by the visitors to your site – the best of both worlds.
There is no need to worry too much about keywords though just as long as you are aware of the need to include them in your article. You might find that the keywords you want to include fall naturally into place in your article as you explore your chosen topic in your article. Getting keywords into an article can also be fun way to find inspiration about what to write. For example if you have four key phrases you want to include then, assuming they are actually relevant to the article, you could use each phrase for an individual paragraph within the article. It may be that you naturally do this when planning your article because before you sit down to write you will probably have a number of points you want to cover in your article.
It might very well be that these points are already the key phrases you want to use in your article so the job may already be done.
The thing you should pay the most attention though is the actual content of the article itself. It should go without saying that what you write is factually correct, authoritative and informative.
Don't make wild claims and be sure to include relevant facts and figures to back up your arguments but, again, never be tempted just to make up the odd fact or figure because there is no faster way to erode your credibility.
Remember you are setting yourself out as an expert in your niche and you want people to trust you and believe what you are writing so don't play fast and loose with the facts.
Finally if you are submitting articles to e-zines or if you allow your articles to be used on other sites then you must include a resource box at the end with a link to your website. Don't forget the resource box and don't be shy about making it a requirement that anyone who wants to reprint your article must also include the resource box when they do so.
